TECH
The newly designed drag system is powered by a cutting-edge, alternating stainless steel and carbon discs stack, that effectively disperses heat and facilitates ultra-smooth engagement when fighting the world’s most powerful fish. An oversized low-durometer rubber O-ring provides consistency throughout the drag adjustment range, allowing for even resistance with every click of the drag knob. Many competitors’ drag systems inconsistently increase pressure—either too quickly or too slowly. The SLT’s drag is linear with every click, allowing anglers to dial in their settings for the perfect amount of resistance. Additionally, the new drag stack features a high and low-end hard stop, preventing over-tightening and free spooling.
CLUTCH
The SLT features a re-imagined and incredibly smooth clutch mechanism. Inspired by the tried-and-true clutch that revolutionized the fly reel industry for two decades, the re-imagined clutch seamlessly transitions from the highest drag settings and provides ultimate smoothness when fighting unforgiving fish. All internal componentry has been made larger for easy handling, tighter tolerances, and is made to take higher heat and torque that come with fishing for tarpon, giant trevally, and arapaima among others.

SLT 9/10/11 Fishing Reel
Had a chancer to test the 9/10/11 SLT this week on a giant trevally at Christmas Island paired with the new Air 2 Max 1090 – what a great combination. I was able to stop a 25 lb giant trevally from escaping off the reef flat at Korean Wreck du to the great drag system, super smooth performance of the SLT reel, and the power of the Air 2 Max 10 weight. A brilliant combination!
This thing is a beauty!!! plus great stopping power and a smooth drag. Definitely Recommend!
Needed to add a 9 wt to my saltwater arsenal. All other rods are Air 2’s. I did not think I would notice a difference, but the Max seemed to have more power and cast quite smoothly, fitting my casting style perfectly, especially with a line that really makes the rod work (went up one line wt.).
