The R.L. Winston Rod Company, located in Twin Bridges, Montana, is excited to announce the AIR 2 Reach, a three-model series of ten-foot fly rods delivering lightweight and responsive feel as part of the award-winning AIR 2 series. These rods extend performance across trout applications that demand a little extra length for technical nymphing, long drift presentations, float tube fishing, mending and lifting more line.

With extra “reach,” anglers can expect incredible performance in key scenarios:

Hank Haen, head of Engineering and Design at Winston outlines the goals for the new AIR 2 Reach:

“When we began the Air 2 Reach project, the end goal was to create the most versatile line up of 10′ rods Winston has ever produced. We did not shy away from this challenge, but rather we tore the whole design down and built an entirely new set of tapers to create an offering of multi-application, fast action 10′ rods. Paired with our new Nano-particle technology, the Air 2 Reach redefines what a 10′ Winston can do. From the technical trout fisheries of the East Coast, where light tippet and delicate presentations rain king, to cutting through the coastal wind in search of sea run cutthroats, the Air 2 Reach gives you an an incredible advantage in performance, versatility, and of course, feel.”

The AIR 2 Reach uses our new versatile double-bonded NanoParticle graphite technology. This incredible material enhances both performance and presentation yet creates an unbelievably stable rod blank with exceptional feel. Ultimately, NanoParticle technology enhances the classic Winston action and improves lightness, durability, and strength, while easily loading at typical trout fishing distances. We’re excited to introduce this incredible technology to help anglers achieve perfect performance and more enjoyment on the water.
