Winston is proud to announce our partnership with Tom Karrow, PhD Candidate, University of Waterloo, on his exciting research project – Ghost Stories.

Ghost Stories, is a conceptual book, film documentary and collection of short films centered on the lives of prominent pioneering Bonefish guides in the Bahamas. This project will document the lives of pioneering Bahamian guides, give them credit for their efforts in developing a world-wide angling phenomenon along with local Bahamian stakeholders, as well as apply their environmental knowledge to local resource management.

Through interviewing long-time guides, a host of new scientifically important information will develop which will complement current understandings and add new knowledge. Working with angling legends, Tom Karrow, will generate fisheries habitat maps which will be used to better manage and conserve valuable Bonefish, Permit and Tarpon in Bahamian Waters. Tom will pole for the legends to verify their knowledge, as well as attempting to catch a few fish in the process.

In addition to new scientific knowledge, Ghost Stories will document the history of Bahamian Bonefishing, recording wonderful stories and tales for all to enjoy.  Tales from Bahamian icons, along with professionally filmed Bahamian footage are sure to please any avid angler.

Periodic updates on this vital research project will be posted  on the Winston Blog. Coming soon – look for a Ghost Stories movie trailer!
