The new PURE 2 series of fly rods (8 models in 2-weight through 5-weight) are made to excel in the world’s legendary dry fly fisheries and in the most challenging technical trout applications. Utilizing new NanoParticle materials, these rods are smooth, delicate and lively. In a broad range of dry-fly situations, from large tailwaters, technical spring creeks, and small streams, these new light-line presentation rods flex evenly, recover quickly, and maintain an incredibly smooth and balanced ‘Winston Feel.’

7’3” 2 weight PURE 2
When fishing small trout on tiny water, this 2 weight is the perfect choice. Delicate for trout that spook at your shadow, but just plain fun to fish, especially when a 10” brookie bends the rod to the cork.
6’9” 3 weight PURE 2
Made for those maniacs that head into the small, wooded streams of the Appalachians or willow choked creeks out West, this 3 weight is compact for the tightest of water, capable of flicks, bow and arrow, and other casts when a back-cast is tough.
7’9” 3 weight PURE 2
If you can own only one small creek rod, the 7’9” 3 weight is it. Incredibly supple with added control for slightly longer casts, you’ll want to pull out this rod for your perfect, happy days on smaller water.
7’9” 4 weight PURE 2
When accuracy is critical and delicacy is mandatory, the 7’9” 4 weight has incredible touch and feel, allowing anglers more versatility when more power is required.

9’ 4 weight PURE 2
The most versatile technical tailwater rod in the group, the 9’ 4 weight is ready to turn over long leaders to snobby tailwater fish. It has backbone for double dries and light droppers, but truly showcases the classic Winston action for longer presentations.
7’9” 5 weight PURE 2
built for anglers who pursue tight water where precision matters and large fish are always a possibility. The compact length and refined feel deliver pinpoint accuracy in brushy conditions, while maintaining the power to turn over larger flies and control strong fish. Ideal for casting big flies in tight East Coast and Great Lakes fisheries where you can’t give up presentation, but need a larger line weight to turn big fish from heavy cover.
8’3” 5 weight PURE 2
An incredible choice for smaller tailwater and freestone rivers. For us, the Beaverhead River has heavy flows, and short casts that tuck caddis and sallies under willows and faster pockets bring success. This rod is ready for those quick shots and pinpoint accuracy in tighter situations.
9’ 5 weight PURE 2
The 9’ 5 weight is the ideal big-water rod in the entire line-up. With a slower action compared to our AIR 2, this 5 weight is up for longer casts, bigger flies, and amazing control in a medium-fast action format. If you’re looking for a versatile 5 weight, but prefer a paced, smooth action, this rod will cover multiple, big tailwater fishing applications.
9’ 6 weight PURE 2
Blending a smooth, moderate action with exceptional control, this 6-weight is engineered to carry long leaders and present smaller flies with finesse. It bridges the gap between power and delicacy. Think drakes on the Henry’s Fork, Hex in the Great Lakes, or long leaders in New Zealand.

The Pure 2 690 is the BIG sister in the Pure 2 series — and it acts and casts like it! This rod has the classic Winston full flex feel that would be a delight to fish from a drift boat on the SF Snake, Missouri, or Lower Henry’s Fork with dry stonefly, hopper or Green Drake patterns. It loves long smooth strokes, and casts very well with the Winston Trout Energy WF6 line. A great combo!
Pure 2, 8’3″, 4 wt
The Pure 2 series is classic Winston — beautiful finish, smooth moderate action, ultra accurate, delicacy paired with control. The 8’3″ 4-wt is my new emerger and dry fly spring creek rod. Slow smooth, laser loops with delicate turnover and exquisite presentation.
My first fish on this rod was an 16″ rainbow with an 18 midge on 5.5X on the South Fork Boise. The rod bent clear down into the cork, yet handled the fish with ease. Just what I was hoping for in the rod and a memorable fishing experience!
I cannot put this rod down, and I have 40 other winston rods.I am currently using 2 soft hackle flies on it.
