MANUFACTURING ENGINEER

 
R.L. Winston Rod Company is growing, and we are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to continue our tradition of innovation in the creation of world-class fly-fishing products.  This position will spearhead continual process improvement in our facility.  A knowledge of manufacturing processes and developing efficient, quality systems is a must. Other necessary skills include project and labor management, and familiarity with safety and environmental standards.  Ultimately, you’ll be the one to ensure Winston’s and Bauer’s production lines work efficiently and effectively to satisfy our customers.

Responsibilities

  • Spearhead an environment of continual innovation and process improvement
  • Upgrade systems and processes with new technology
  • Develop, implement, and test automated and manual manufacturing systems
  • Implement LEAN manufacturing initiatives
  • Maintain strict quality control standards
  • Review and calculate labor, material, and production costing
  • Organize manufacturing workflows and resources
  • Manage timelines for manufacturing projects
  • Integrate disparate systems (e.g., equipment handling, transport)
  • Collaborate with product designers from conception and R&D, to manufacturing and product release
  • Research and validate new materials and manufacturing techniques
  • Resolve issues and delays in production
  • Collaborate with other engineers, contractors, and suppliers
  • Ensure that manufacturing procedures follow safety and environmental regulations

Requirements and skills

  • Three or more years of experience as a manufacturing engineer or similar role
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, fabrication methods, and tool design
  • Demonstrated track record of process improvement
  • Familiarity with composite manufacturing equipment and quality assurance techniques
  • Commitment to health and safety standards and environmental regulations
  • Well-versed in relevant software (e.g., CAD, MS Office)
  • Project management skills
  • Ability to take initiative and solve problems
  • Ability to occasionally work late shifts
  • Degree in Engineering is preferred
  • Fly fishing experience is preferred
  • Composite manufacturing experience is preferred

OPERATIONS MANAGER

 

R.L. Winston Rod Company & Bauer Fly Reels are growing, and we are looking for an Operations Manager to join our team.  This impactful role provides inspired leadership for our rod and reel building teams and is integral to the continued growth of our company.  You’ll be spearheading continual process improvement to ensure we can meet the increasing demand for our products.  If you’re also inventive and meticulous, we’d like to meet you.  We’re always looking to lead the industry through innovation, and the Operations Manager will be focusing on maintaining quality while improving efficiency and output in our manufacturing processes.

 

Responsibilities

  • Manage fly rod and reel production to meet inventory requirements and warranty department needs
  • Responsible for establishing, maintaining, and implementing safety programs
  • Improve the integration of multiple production departments
  • Manage warehouse flow, process, and efficiency
  • Collaborate on material purchasing and inventory control
  • Design and implement plans for the effective use of material and labor resources to achieve manufacturing targets
  • Oversee maintenance of production facility and equipment
  • Analyze, and provide solutions to, manufacturing challenges or problems
  • Examine financial data and use the information to improve profitability
  • Work with sales teams to help set and meet daily, quarterly, and annual goals
  • Play a significant role in long-term planning, project status reporting, and implementing process improvement
  • Perform quality controls and monitor production KPIs
  • Recruits, trains, develops, rewards, and recognizes personnel to achieve targeted strategies and goals
  • Assists in new product launches, production and engineering improvements, product testing
  • Manage development and execution of manufacturing plans including prototype and production, build schedules, material requirements, factory schedules
  • Actively participate in budgeting and forecasting material needs for production planning

ROD PRODUCTION

 

We are always excited to find qualified employees to join the rod production team at our facility in Twin Bridges. These are full time positions, Monday through Friday, and entail working in the departments / processes involved in fly rod production.
