RA Beattie started Beattie Outdoor Productions (BOP) after graduating from the University of Puget Sound in 2005. 10 years logged as a fly fishing guide in the mountains of Colorado allow him a true insider’s look into the industry. Beattie has combined his passion for fly fishing and photography to create numerous short films about the fly fishing lifestyle. Over the years, BOP has photographed and filmed on every continent. Beattie recently launched Off the Grid Studios, a green media-house that’s 100% sustainable, running on wind and solar, in the wilderness outside of Bend, OR.
Jim Britton is a partner at Oscar’s Adventure Travel in Smithers, British Columbia, which offers trip planning and guiding services for fly fishing, skiing and other pursuits. He’s one of the most experienced Steelhead anglers and guides in Western Canada, an extraordinary two-handed caster, a former steelhead lodge owner and has over 35 years of experience fishing the regions legendary rivers, including the Bulkley, Morice, Skeena, Kispiox, Copper and Babine. Originally from California, Parker spent four trout filled years in Colorado before landing in Washington, DC. In a city where things that are said are not always meant, Parker seeks solace in the streams where the fish keep the angler honest. While he reserves the highest reverence for trout, he happily pursues all species swimming in and around the nation’s capital. Whether it is casting at carp in the shadow of the Jefferson Memorial or backpacking one of Virginia’s mountain brook trout streams, Parker can be found with a smile on his face whenever there is a fly rod in his hand. When he is not fishing, Parker writes about his experiences on the water. His writing takes on an appreciative and reflective tone, highlighting the intangible intricacies between the angler and the environment. Todd Moen is the owner and producer of Catch Magazine. Todd began combining fly fishing and film at an early age, then sharpened his skills by traveling the world to film for ESPN, CBS, and OLN. In 2008, he launched Catch Magazine. His online, environmentally responsible magazine reaches more than 84,000 subscribers in 184 countries worldwide. It showcases outstanding photography and film, including Todd’s award-winning T-Motion video shorts which are produced bimonthly throughout the year. Two time world champion spey caster, accomplished guide, conservationist, upland bird hunter, skier and mother, Mia Sheppard grew up in Tennessee, chasing trout and hiking the beautiful Great Smoky Mountains. Fly fishing caught her attention in 1996 and in 2001, Marty Sheppard, her husband, introduced her to spey casting, and connecting with steelhead. Together they purchased Little Creek Outfitters, guiding anglers into steelhead, trout and smallmouth bass on Oregon Rivers.
Committed to conservation, she works for the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership, is a river steward for Native Fish Society, the conservation chair for IWFF and supporter of Deschutes River Alliance, Trout Unlimited, and Casting For Recovery. Michael White is a long tenured and respected industry sales representative; having worked for many companies within the fly fishing industry during his near twenty-year career. Currently he represents Simms Fishing Products and hunting brand, Sitka Gear, in the Northern Rockies. His lengthy resume includes casting instruction, rod design work, guiding and worldwide angling adventures.
Michael brings a unique perspective and insight to Winston. He works diligently with fishing retailers to understand current market trends, fisheries techniques, consumer buying habits and product needs. He has worked closely in the past with the Winston design team and has a strong sense for how Winston rods will continue to possess, in his words, “that magic Winston feel” while addressing today’s angling techniques, action demands and performance requirements.
